Following an abortion at Planned Parenthood in Chicago on July 20, 24-year-old Tonya Reaves bled to death. Tonya leaves behind a one-year-old son—his mother and sibling snatched from him by the nation’s largest abortion chain. Tonya also left behind a fiancé and a twin sister, Toni, who told the Chicago-area CBS affiliate, “She was my other half.”
The method of the abortion was cervical dilation and evacuation. This grisly method is used in later term abortions—beyond the first trimester. The woman’s cervix is manually dilated and the baby is dismembered and removed from the uterus.
STOPP issued a press release on Monday calling on Planned Parenthood to close all of its facilities in light of Reaves’ death. It said, in part:
Tonya joins Holly Patterson, Diana Lopez, and many other women who went into a Planned Parenthood facility and did not survive. These deaths of healthy women are, of course, in addition to the 450 preborn female human beings who die at Planned Parenthood every day.
Americans have made it clear that they do not want Planned Parenthood to exist any longer. It is closing down clinics for lack of money and customers; losing donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations; and seeing its taxpayer funding cut off in state after state, as well as in the House of Representatives. Planned Parenthood has been able to survive only through the erroneous intervention of judges in the funding process, its bullying tactics, and its own political muscle.
Any organization that only exists through fear and intimidation will not be able to exist for long. Planned Parenthood needs to do the right thing and close down all its facilities now.
On the day of Reaves’ death, an ambulance was dispatched to another Planned Parenthood location in the Chicago area, according to a report from the Pro-Life Action League. While sidewalk counselors were on site at Planned Parenthood in Aurora, an ambulance arrived in response to another apparent abortion injury. No one was transported, and the Pro-Life Action League is pursuing information under the Freedom of Information Act to ascertain what happened inside the PP abortion fortress.
