Planned Parenthood mega-merger in Texas complete

Effective September 1, 2012, Planned Parenthood affiliates in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Waco merged to form one huge affiliate—Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas—in an attempt to keep its head above water in light of deep funding cuts.

The merger was announced after Texas eliminated funding of Planned Parenthood through the Women’s Health Program. The three merged affiliates have been particularly deluged by pro-life advocates who bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary and meet them at every corner to shed light on the abortion giant’s agenda. These include American Life League Associate groups STOPP of Dallas, Pro-Life Waco, Texoma Pro-Life Association, Texans Opposed to Planned Parenthood, Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, and the Gabriel Project of the Diocese of Fort Worth.

A press release announcing the upcoming merger said, “This strategy is especially important to ensure that Planned Parenthood continues to carefully and effectively steward private donations as government grants are eliminated.”

Kenneth Lambrecht, formerly the CEO of Planned Parenthood of North Texas, will head the new affiliate, attempting to manage 26 facilities across 58,000 square miles of Texas, including four abortion centers projected to kill 8,500 preborn babies annually.

The Texas merger is proof positive that divesting Planned Parenthood of government funding will have far-reaching effects on its ability to continue business as usual. We must continue to work to debunk and defund the nation’s largest abortion chain. Millions of innocent lives hang in the balance. Congratulations to all those who have worked so hard to defund Planned Parenthood in Texas.
