California

California is the most pro-abortion state in the nation. It is also a state where the political landscape is controlled by Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood operates 104 facilities in the state and just about every abortion in California is paid for by taxpayer money—even abortions for those who are in the United States illegally.

There are two major anti-life activities going on in California right now, and here is the latest on them:

First, California is the place where the Center for Medical Progress filmed most of their baby body parts business undercover videos. David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt—the two undercover investigators—have been persecuted by the legal system in the state. The first step was taken by attorney general, Kamala Harris and, after Harris was elected a US senator, by her replacement at attorney general, Xavier Becerra. Both of these individuals have publicly proclaimed that they stand with Planned Parenthood, while targeting Daleiden and Merritt in the courts.

Attorneys for Daleiden and Merritt have uncovered clandestine meetings that took place between the attorney general’s office and Planned Parenthood just weeks before the attorney general ordered a raid on Daleiden and the confiscation of his computers, recorders, and videos. When asked for details of the meeting, the lawyers were told that there were no notes, e-mails, or other records that exist concerning the meeting. In an effort to find out exactly what happened and how, the attorneys have subpoenaed all parties, including Harris and Becerra, to come to court on October 4 to testify under oath as to the details of the meeting. Despite the lawful subpoenas, we understand both individuals are refusing to come. As we were going to press with this newsletter, there was a court hearing scheduled to determine if the two would be legally forced to testify.

We will keep you updated as this horrible travesty of justice plays out in California.

The second major event in California is the passage by the state legislature of SB 320. The bill specifically says, “On and after January 1, 2022, each public university student health center shall offer abortion by medication techniques.” The University of California has 10 campuses and the California State University has 23 campuses. All campuses would be required to provide RU486 to any student who asks for it, free of charge. This would convert all 33 campuses into new abortuaries in the state! As we were writing this, the bill had gone through a legal review   and was sent to Governor Brown's desk this past Monday afternoon at 4:00 pm.

We are asking all readers of the Wednesday STOPP Report to call Governor Brown’s office and ask him to veto this bill. The phone number is: (916) 445-2841.

There is a real danger that, once this bill is established in California, Planned Parenthood will take it to the other 49 states and try to make every public college campus in America into an abortion facility.
