Planned Parenthood's crocodile tears over HPV infections

Planned Parenthood is at it again. It is taking a serious medical problem it helped to create and is setting itself out as part of the solution to the problem.

On May 18, 2006, Planned Parenthood issued the following statement:

Today, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advisory committee is considering whether to recommend approval of the first vaccine against two types of human papilloma virus (HPV) that cause about 70 percent of cervical cancer cases. Each year approximately 10,000 cases of cervical cancer are diagnosed in the United States, and 4,000 American women die from the disease. Worldwide, cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America applauds the development of the HPV vaccine and urges the FDA to give the product a thorough and expedient review. Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, issued the following statement:

"The HPV vaccine should be a top public health priority for the FDA. It is common sense, good medicine and a groundbreaking step forward in the fight against cancer.

"Each year, Planned Parenthood provides more than 1,000,000 women with cancer screenings aimed at early detection to keep them safe. Availability of an HPV vaccine would give future generations the promise of health, safety, and peace of mind."

Clearly Planned Parenthood is trying to position itself as the caring organization out to help young girls and women who have HPV and cervical cancer. Yet a careful look at this will reveal that Planned Parenthood is NOT the solution to this problem; it is, in large measure, the cause of the problem.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (a U.S. government agency), the major "risk factors associated with genital HPV infection in women" are:

  1. Young age
  2. Sexual behavior
  3. Risk increases with increasing lifetime number of male sex partners
  4. Early age of first sexual intercourse
  5. Sexual behavior of male sex partners
  6. Risk increases for women whose sex partners have had multiple sex partners.

The CDC also says that an additional risk factor for HPV is "oral contraceptive use."

Do you see it? Is it clear? The greatest risk factor for getting an HPV infection, which causes most cases of cervical cancer, is living the kind of lifestyle Planned Parenthood is pushing on our children.

And what is Planned Parenthood's answer? It is NOT to tell our young people to change their lifestyles and abstain from sex before marriage and marry a person who also has abstained from sex. No. Planned Parenthood wants the government to approve a vaccine so it can give the kids a shot and send them out to continue their self-destructive lifestyle that will ensure millions of dollars in income for Planned Parenthood.

Remember, Planned Parenthood is not a health care facility just doing its best to deal with the awful effects of a promiscuous lifestyle. It is the organization that is promoting that lifestyle to our teens.

If we really want to protect our children from HPV and cervical cancer, we should start by closing down every Planned Parenthood facility in the country.

Want to fight back against Planned Parenthood's agenda? - Go to KC

Clearly, if we are to protect our children from the ravages of Planned Parenthood's programs and philosophies, we must give our children a clear message of chastity. There are many groups trying to do just that and, in just a couple of weeks, these groups will be holding a conference in Kansas City, Missouri. We encourage everyone who wants to be a leader in the fight against Planned Parenthood in their community to go to this conference and listen to what is available for you to use in your local community. Although not everything presented is appropriate for every situation, attendance will allow you to get the information you need to evaluate what's out there.

The leadership conference is sponsored by the Abstinence Clearinghouse and it will take place June 6-9 in Kansas City. The conference offers something for everyone - program managers, abstinence educators, health care professionals, parents, teens, and youth workers. Details and registration information are available online.

Pro-life efforts against Planned Parenthood beginning to show fruit

We have been telling you for some time of the effectiveness of pro-life efforts against Planned Parenthood. PP has been forced to close down well over 100 clinics and several states have begun taking millions of dollars of taxpayer money away from PP. In addition, in community after community all across the country, Planned Parenthood has become a controversial organization and people are staying away.

All of this has taken a toll on Planned Parenthood's operations and it realizes it must find new avenues of revenue if it is to stay viable.

We have been telling you since December about Planned Parenthood's "Express Clinics." These storefront operations are intended to increase PP income by pushing through a greater number of sales in a shorter period of time. Next month, Planned Parenthood will roll out a new type of "Express Clinic" in Minnesota. It will be a facility that will not serve poor people - PP says if you can't pay for your birth control products, don't even bother coming to this clinic. It is for those who have money and can pay on the spot.

Officially called PLAN Planned Parenthood Express Care, news reports state that the clinic will sell lotions, essential oils and decorative carrying cases for pills and condoms that will be used to "beckon shoppers inside, where they can also get oral contraceptives, pregnancy tests and screening for HIV, chlamydia and gonorrhea, all in about 20 minutes. If customers are interested, the clinic may add massages and other spa services later."

What is interesting is the reason given by Planned Parenthood for creating this new concept. Sarah Stoesz, president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, reportedly told the media, "As federal and state aid for family planning services declines, Planned Parenthood will be able to expand only through clinics that pay for themselves."

Planned Parenthood is testing this and other ideas to see what works. It is imperative that we not let these new Express Clinics go unchallenged. If any of these facilities exist near you we recommend:

  1. Demonstrate outside the clinics and hand out literature telling the truth about PP.
  2. If the Express Clinics are located inside a mall or other places where demonstrations are not feasible, you should don pro-life T-shirts and hang around in front of the stores.
  3. We do not encourage any illegal or destructive activity, but if you want to go into the PP store, wearing your pro-life T-shirt, and browse their products, well - that's what people do at every store in the mall. Certainly Planned Parenthood wouldn't object to having their stores filled with potential customers.

The point is that Planned Parenthood needs to know that the community will not support its latest efforts to appear respectable. You can make sure it gets that message - peacefully and respectfully.

Two more Planned Parenthood clinics close in Texas panhandle

With the closure of Planned Parenthood clinics in Borger and Dumas, the panhandle of Texas is moving towards the day when it will be "Planned Parenthood Free."

In 1997, Planned Parenthood operated 19 clinics in the Texas panhandle. When Bishop John Yanta was installed as the leader of the Catholic diocese in Amarillo that year, he invited us to give presentations and educate people on our proven plan to defeat Planned Parenthood.

The bishop's Respect Life director, Rita Diller, has faithfully taken the plan, altered it where necessary to fit the local environment, surrounded their efforts with prayer, and has seen the closing of clinic after clinic. With the latest closings, Planned Parenthood now operates only two clinics in Amarillo plus a one-day-a-week facility in Cactus. PRAISE GOD!

Closing 19 clinics seemed like a frightening task. But persistence and reliance on an effort backed by prayer and hard work has resulted in this tremendous success. We anxiously await the invitation to travel to Amarillo to celebrate the closing of the last clinic. And it will close - in God's time.

Pro-lifers in Amarillo have closed 17 clinics in nine years. There are 31 states that have less than 17 Planned Parenthood clinics in the whole state. We encourage everyone to begin activities against Planned Parenthood in your state and drive PP out.
