PP of Metropolitan D.C. sued for botched abortion on 13-year-old
Planned Parenthood is being sued yet again. Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington D.C. committed an abortion on a 13- year-old girl on September 7, 2006. This young girl was raped, and then PP killed her preborn baby and severely injured her during the abortion.
According to the lawsuit that was filed in February, she suffered severe abdominal bleeding, severe vaginal injury, severe injury to the cervix, significant uterine perforation and a small bowel tear. The day after the abortion, parts of the young mother's baby were found inside her abdomen.

Planned Parenthood buys building in Charleston
Local pro-lifers in Charleston, South Carolina are outraged that Planned Parenthood has bought a building in the city and wants to open an abortuary. Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc., headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, listed the following project on its web site:
Campaign to Build a PP Health Center in Charleston
Recognizing the enormous need for our preventive services in coastal South Carolina, we identified Charleston as a priority area for a Planned Parenthood Health Center. Although Charleston can boast of a strong medical and public health community, incredible health disparities exist, including high teen pregnancy and STI rates, constrained service delivery models, significant poverty, and high number of uninsured. Although we are always alert to organized challenges to our efforts, we have successfully cultivated the support of many community movers and shakers, public health officials and faith leaders. Eighteen months ago we launched a $1.2 million capital campaign; to date we have secured $510,000 towards that goal.
According to the PPHSI 2007 annual report, donations to help open the Charleston abortuary, to be located at 200 Rutledge Avenue in Charleston, included the following:
Anonymous Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation ($175,000)
Gillian and Peter Roy ($25,758)
Marie and Peter Hummel ($25,000)
Carol and Leo Fishman ($25,000)
Lowcountry Committee of 100 (>$25,000)
PP is currently saying that it will have the new abortion facility open by the end of 2008. However, the local pro-life community is gearing up for a major effort against it. We will keep you informed.

American Life League in Cincinnati
American Life League's vice president, Jim Sedlak, recently traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio to assist with the local effort against a new facility Planned Parenthood of Southwest Ohio Region wants to open. PP wants to close one of its existing clinics and open a new one about two miles away.
This new PP facility, which we first reported on last week, will be located near three high schools. The closest school, which will be within 300 feet of the clinic, is predominantly African-American – with students being bused in from all over the city. Pro-lifers and other citizens all across the region are outraged by PP's very obvious targeting of their children.
Jim met with an organizing committee for four hours and then spoke to nearly 300 area residents who gathered, on very short notice, to find out what they can do to stop this move by PP. The meeting was electrifying. Attendees were told that a new group has formed specifically to combat the PP threat. This group is aptly named Protect Cincinnati and its web site, www.protectcincinnati.org, should be online within the next week.
Jim also spoke at the Cross the Bridge for Life event in Newport, Kentucky. This is a celebration of life at which Jim had the honor of announcing, to the hundreds in attendance, the formation of Protect Cincinnati. Judging by the comments made to Jim after his talk, PP is going to have a major battle on its hands in the Queen City.
To have Jim Sedlak speak in your area, please e-mail Jim at jsedlak@all.org, or if you'd like any of our STOPP experts to speak in your area, please call us at 540-659-4171 or e-mail us at stopp@all.org.

Archbishop Vlazny speaks out against PP
In a recent column in his archdiocesan newspaper, Archbishop John Vlazny of Portland, Oregon spoke out clearly against Planned Parenthood and encouraged all members of his archdiocese to fight against the opening of a new PP abortion facility in Portland.
The archbishop concluded his column by writing, "I urge all our Catholic people and friends to express their opposition to our city leaders about the proposed PPFA project on MLK Jr. Boulevard in Portland. The so-called 'health and education services' to be provided in that facility would only destroy more human lives and promote promiscuous behavior on the part of young people. The time for saying 'no' to PPFA in our community is now."
You can read the archbishop's full column at http://www.sentinel.org/node/8990. You can read the statements of other Catholic bishops and leaders about PP at http://www.all.org/stopp/bishops.htm.
Precious Children of Portland is an interfaith group working legally and peacefully against the opening of this new PP facility. We have been working with Precious Children of Portland since its founding. You can find out more about them at www.preciouschildrenofportland.org.

Habitat for Humanity breaks deal with Planned Parenthood!
We've just received news that at its June 3 board meeting, Sarasota Habitat for Humanity decided that it would disengage itself from its land agreement with Planned Parenthood.
As we have reported to you in the last two Wednesday STOPP Reports, Sarasota Habitat for Humanity had originally accepted a proposal from PP to buy a land parcel for $10. Now PP cannot go through with its plan and will need to find another way to open its killing center.
We are happy to report that Habitat for Humanity is not helping Planned Parenthood open its abortion clinic! PRAISE GOD!
Please contact Sarasota Habitat CEO Tony Souza and thank him for disengaging HFH from PP. Call him at 941-365-0700 and e-mail tsouza@sarasotahabitat.com. Also contact Habitat International at 1-800-HABITAT or dbates@habitat.org and thank them too!
