Planned Parenthood exposed: The inside scoop on its abortion business
This week, the Wall Street Journal exposed Planned Parenthood's increasing abortion business and questioned its "services" for low-income women. American Life League provided comments and data for the article and was glad to see that this organization was brought into the spotlight for what it truly is – an abortion business. Charts accompanying the article showed the increase in abortion at PP facilities over the years, while the number of abortions nationwide has been decreasing.
Back in January, we shared with you the findings of our 2007 Survey of Planned Parenthood Facilities and discovered that PP had increased the number of its abortion facilities by 55 since 2006. This article also reported that PP's president, Cecile Richards, "said that she has encouraged more Planned Parenthood clinics to offer abortions." So, while PP's Prenatal Care and Primary Care have decreased, abortion and birth control sales have increased.
This article also documented what we have been telling our readers for years. A large percentage of PP's "poor" clients are actually teens and college students who do not earn over $15,600 a year because they are full-time students. We encourage you to use this fact when discussing PP's business.
PP is all about luring our young people into its clinics so it can continue undermining America's traditional values. We must fight this! We must stop this organization from building these baby-killing fortresses and continue the grassroots efforts in our towns. Continue the protests! Continue the prayers! Continue working to get PP out of our schools, out of our communities and out of our pockets!

The Gardasil push
Another way Planned Parenthood snags and reels in its customers is through the "panic" it spreads about cervical cancer. So, PP pushes the Gardasil vaccine onto young girls as a preventative against the human papillomavirus.
How else can you get more customers into your killing centers? By offering free "services"! Planned Parenthood of Northern New York has been offering Gardasil for "free" to its customers, since it received a $66,000 state Department of Health grant this year. But it is not really free. It is just that the American taxpayer is paying for it instead of PP's customers.
The mentality of parents who have their young girls receive Gardasil typically also leads to putting them on birth control. Their thinking is this: "Our nine-year-old girls are eventually going to have sex outside of marriage, so we better put them on the pill and get this Gardasil injection." Do we not trust our children? Do we not trust ourselves to educate our young people to realize that they are worth more than what society thinks of them? Our society relies so heavily on chemical means of avoiding STDs and killing preborn babies that we completely miss the importance of abstinence, which is also 100 percent reliable! Let's teach our children about chastity and self-respect.
Also, not many women realize that Gardasil only works against four of the 100 strains of HPV. On top of that, only two of the four strains affected by this drug have been linked to cervical cancer cases in this country. Despite the small chance that Gardasil would actually work to prevent HPV, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved this drug for girls as young as nine years of age.
To read more about the real motives for Planned Parenthood's involvement in pushing Gardasil, read Jim Sedlak's eye-opening article titled "None dare call it a conspiracy" in the May-June issue 2007 issue of American Life League's magazine, Celebrate Life, at http://www.clmagazine.org/backissues/2007_mayjune.html. This article is a must-read if you want to be fully informed on this topic.

Say what? Planned Parenthood doesn't want parents to know?
Planned Parenthood's Mar Monte affiliate (based in San Jose, California) donated $700,000 to the Campaign for Teen Safety, which aims to defeat a proposed amendment to the California Constitution requiring doctors to inform parents of teens prior to committing abortions on them. So PP doesn't want kids' parents to know that Planned Parenthood is going to kill their preborn grandbabies? Of course PP would not want them to know! If parents actually found out what PP is doing to their kids – giving them contraceptives and abortions without informing the parents – then PP would lose a lot of its business and "credibility."
PP is definitely in the abortion business. This PP affiliate donated the money to itself. Yes, you read that correctly: The Campaign for Teen Safety is PP's own statewide campaign committee.
The director of public affairs for PP's Mar Monte affiliate said, "It's critical that teens have safe healthcare options." What else can one expect from PP but the same rhetoric that makes absolutely no sense? Abortion is not safe. It takes the life of an innocent human being and puts the mother's life at risk. PP is going to do everything it can to make sure abortion continues to exist in our country. Why? The money. PP is the largest abortion chain in the country.
What can you do? Read our next story on how to defeat PP's government funding.

Defeating government funding of Planned Parenthood – Part 3: Lobby each elected official
Now that you have read how to find out if local monies are going to Planned Parenthood and how to inform the public about how offensive Planned Parenthood is, you will now learn how to lobby your local officials.
First, evaluate where each politician stands on the basic issues involved. Once you have gathered the necessary background information, you can begin to explore where your politicians stand on the issue. This initial survey should be done in an informal way. Ask the politicians, in a one-on-one situation, what they think of PP. Ask what they think of government funding for the organization.
Typically, you will find that politicians fall into one of three categories. A few will think like you and will be opposed to PP philosophically. A second small group will be ardently in favor of PP and all of its programs. The majority will fall into the third category of having no particular basic beliefs one way or the other.
Second, realistic analysis of where the politicians stand and what your chances are is extremely important. Essentially, you should place each elected official in one of three groups: anti-Planned Parenthood, pro-Planned Parenthood or in the middle. When you think about votes, you will need a majority of the people to vote on your side in order for you to win. So, if you have 15 people in your government body, you will need eight votes. If the total of the "anti-Planned Parenthood" and "in-the-middle" categories is eight or higher, you have an opportunity to win a vote. If not, you need to do some work to either convert some of the "pro-Planned Parenthood" people to the "middle" category or get other people elected who feel as you do.
At least every six months, you should evaluate all the politicians and place them in one of the categories. When a vote is near, you will probably be going through this process every few days.
Third, begin to think of politicians not as a group, but as individual people, each of whom has to be approached in a different way. Once you have categorized the politicians, you must begin to act to move the "middle" people into the "anti-Planned Parenthood" category and try to dislodge some of the "pro-Planned Parenthood" folks. Do not give up on any of the politicians until they have demonstrated by their votes that they will totally support PP.
If your elected politicians represent specific districts in the town or city, it is important to get people from that district to ask them to stop funding PP. People in the district vote, and the politician wants to get all possible votes. Politicians will be more likely to listen to a voter than to another person in town.
Fourth, find someone on your side who knows the politician personally. Anybody would be more likely to listen to someone he knows than to a stranger. Most people are more likely to respond favorably to a pastor of their church. Find out all you can about each politician, and see if you can find a friend or pastor who thinks as you do. If so, have that person talk with the politician. Perhaps that person can even set up a meeting with the politician and you to discuss the issue. Use all avenues that God opens up, and you will eventually be able to get your message out to most of your elected officials.
Fifth, get a vote scheduled on the issue. A vote, even if you lose, is a very valuable tool. Make sure, however, that your supporters ask for a roll-call vote. In this way, you will force the politicians to take a side on this issue. A vote is registered by you as either "anti-Planned Parenthood" or "pro-Planned Parenthood." Politicians who are "pro-Planned Parenthood" should know that they will be targeted for an intense educational effort and, perhaps, face challenges in upcoming elections.
A vote will clear up the "middle" category and let you know the true strength you have in the elected body. It will also let you concentrate your efforts on changing the minds of those who are not with you.

Parents stick up for their kids at the library
It is great to see parents stick up for their kids, especially when employees at a local library believe sexually explicit material is appropriate for children. Parents are pressuring the Batavia, Illinois library to remove Planned Parenthood's notorious "teen" web site, linked under the "health and fitness" section, from its computers.
The more you learn about how disgusting and outright evil PP is, the more dedicated you will become to keeping this sick organization out of your town and away from your children.
Over 50 people attended a recent library board meeting, and that, in itself, is a testimony to how dedicated these parents are to protecting the children in their community.
Do not give up the fight! PP is an organization that cannot be trusted. It pushes pornography and other sexually explicit material onto children so it can then lure these young people into its facilities to sell them birth control and abortions. This baby-killing organization raked in over $114 million in total profit in 2006-2007. This alone shows that it is in it for the money – not for our children's health.

Planned Parenthood gets axed at the last minute
Praise God for active pro-lifers who helped get the word out about Planned Parenthood trying to get money from the American people – again. This time, PP was trying to get money from the 2008 War Supplemental Bill (H.R. 2642) – a bill that would benefit our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The proposed provision would have allowed "certain Planned Parenthood clinics and university healthcare centers to get drugs at nominal prices, allowing for easier and cheaper distribution of controversial drugs such as Plan B," according to a media release issued by Concerned Women for America. Planned Parenthood already purchases a month's supply of birth control for only $2, and then sells it to its customers for $18 to $30. It certainly does not need any additional "help."
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill without the provision for PP. Praise God!
