Planned Parenthood deflects its culpability using baby murder verdicts to push ‘safe’ abortion

“This case has made clear that we must have and enforce laws that protect access to safe and legal abortion, and we must reject misguided laws that would limit women’s options and force them to seek treatment from criminals like Kermit Gosnell.”

So said Eric Ferrero, Planned Parenthood Federation of America vice president for communications, in the official statement following the conviction of abortionist Kermit Gosnell in the murder of three babies he attempted to abort who were born alive and then murdered by his hand.

Planned Parenthood’s spin machine was in full-court press after a Philadelphia jury delivered the guilty verdict this week. Without naming any specific laws that “forced” women to seek late-term abortions at the Gosnell house of horrors, the abortion giant attempted to exonerate itself and deflect the attention from the murdered babies who are reflective of the stark reality of Planned Parenthood’s own baby killing business—a reality that was so painfully exhibited during the Gosnell murder trial.

Planned Parenthood, however, knew about the ongoing horrors taking place at Gosnell’s late-term abortion facility in Philadelphia. Planned Parenthood was complicit in what happened there because of its failure to report information it had. reported on a recent fundraiser where the CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania said that women who had visited Gosnell’s clinic would sometimes come to Planned Parenthood and complain about the conditions there. Rather than talking to the health department about the problems, the abortion giant representative said, “We would always encourage them to report it to the Department of Health.” Planned Parenthood could have quite likely triggered an investigation had its staff followed up, and lives of the women and babies murdered there could have been saved.

Testimony in the case showed that babies born alive during induced abortions were murdered routinely by Gosnell and his staff, who would slice their necks open after they were born, then sever their spinal cords with scissors to kill them. This testimony implicated Gosnell and his employees in hundreds of such deaths.

While the Gosnell case was in progress in Philadelphia, the curtains were thrown open and the spotlight turned on a Delaware Planned Parenthood, as former employees of that facility unveiled the similarities between conditions there and those at Gosnell’s Philadelphia facility.

And while all that was going on, a Planned Parenthood lobbyist was testifying against a Florida state bill that would mandate that a baby born alive after an attempted abortion must be given emergency life-saving care. A lobbyist for Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates testified that if, in the course of an abortion, a baby were to be born alive at Planned Parenthood, the decision whether to give that baby medical care would be a “decision . . . left up to the woman, her family, and the physician.”

Regardless of the spin Planned Parenthood wants to put on it, the murder of innocent babies, inside or outside the womb, is indefensible. That is why no witnesses were called on behalf of Gosnell, the defense rested without calling a single witness, and Gosnell himself never took the witness stand. And that is why Gosnell traded his right to appeal the case for two life sentences, to avoid the death penalty.

It is time for Planned Parenthood to take the rap for the murders it commits day in and day out. No matter how much Planned Parenthood pretends to be a better place for baby killing than Gosnell’s house of horrors, the fact remains that the result of every Planned Parenthood abortion is one—or more—dead babies.

The difference between killing a child inside the womb and outside the womb is nonexistent. The location of the murder of a human person does not determine whether a murder was committed. The fact is that a unique human person is murdered during every abortion, and Planned Parenthood has committed over six million murders of preborn children since 1970.

It is time to stop the killing. It is time to Stop Planned Parenthood.
