PPFA dedicates an entire section of its 2013-2014 report to the importance of its cancer screening services to women. It brags about providing 378,692 PAP tests. But as with other figures cited in the report, no comparison figures for prior years are given. STOPP has accumulated statistics from Planned Parenthood reports for decades. Comparing the numbers of PAP tests to previous years, we see not only a sharp decline of 23 percent from the previous year, but a pattern of severe ongoing decline. In fact, cancer detecting PAP tests at Planned Parenthood centers have declined a whopping 58 percent since 2009. Breast exams mirror the drop in PAP tests at Planned Parenthood, with a 41 percent decrease since 2009.
