Planned Parenthood's Rapid Response Corps
This article originally appeared in this issue of the WSR: 2018-07-11

Planned Parenthood is continuing its thrust across the country to organize activists with the aim of winning the mid-term elections. In past Wednesday STOPP Reports, we’ve brought you news of efforts being sponsored by Planned Parenthood in various states. These include the upcoming “Power of Pink” training sessions in the Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan, from July 27-29. (

This week, we are alerting the pro-lifers of Florida to a Planned Parenthood effort that is being spread across the Sunshine State. The effort is called Planned Parenthood’s Rapid Response Corps and it being described by Planned Parenthood in this way:

Alarming headlines week after week remind us of the current unstable political climate, and the upcoming midterm elections have the potential to be one of the most transformation elections ever for Florida. We need to be an active force for positive change now more than ever.

Equality Florida and Planned Parenthood are partnering to hold Rapid Response Corps boot camps across Florida to prepare our supporters to engage on critical issues that intersect with access to safe and legal abortion, reproductive justice, and LGBTQ equality.

The boot camp will provide a State of the State update, preview how Florida’s elections can dramatically reshape state and federal policy, equip you with a range of activism tools, and leave you with an action plan to use in your local community. There is no cost to participate. Join us and discover how you personally can make a difference.

It will come as no surprise to Floridians that the state is viewed as an important battleground in elections. As Planned Parenthood works all across the nation to get its people activated, this Rapid Response Corps is its activity in Florida.

It has already held these sessions in Greater Orlando (May 19), Palm Beach County (May 20), Broward County (May 26), Miami-Dade County (June 9), St. Petersburg (June 16), Gainesville (June 23), Tallahassee (June 24), and Jacksonville (July 21)
