Planned Parenthood cries 'harassment' as Congressional investigation into its business continues

We told you last week that the United States House of Representatives has begun an investigation into the operations of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its clinics across the country.

Predictably, PPFA's president, Cecile Richards, has sent an e-mail to the organization's supporters - accusing Congress of trying to harass and intimidate the organization.

Richards' specific statement was:

"I want to be crystal clear: we are not afraid of Rep. Stearns and his baseless demands. I am proud of the work Planned Parenthood Federation of America and our affiliates do, and I know how seriously we take our role as financial stewards of grants, government funding, and contributions from supporters like you. But you know as well as I do that this isn't about fiscal responsibility. This is about harassment and intimidation of America's leading provider and advocate of women's health care. This is about an effort to undercut Planned Parenthood and undermine Planned Parenthood health centers' ability to provide essential care to the women, men, and teens who rely on them. This is about a pattern of politically motivated attacks designed to eliminate Planned Parenthood once and for all."

In other words, Planned Parenthood is worried. As states all across the nation are taking money from her federation, many of its clinics are being closed down, and the general public is beginning to understand its true nature, Ms. Richards is facing the collapse of this once-great empire.

We ask very reader of the Wednesday STOPP Report to contact your Representatives and Senators in Congress and tell them to support the investigation of Planned Parenthood. Make sure you also let them know that you want every penny of taxpayer money taken away from the group.

Now is the time to pour on the pressure. Go to our Defund Planned Parenthood Action Center (www.stopplannedparenthood.com) and add your voice to the thousands who are contacting Congress.

STOPP Nebraska talks draw enthusiastic crowds

Talks presented by STOPP International founder Jim Sedlak across rural Nebraska attracted hundreds of concerned citizens who want to stop the abortion giant's advance into the Cornhusker State. Jim was there on a speaking tour that spanned two weeks and saw him giving multiple talks daily. He also conducted packed activist training workshops in every location that Planned Parenthood has projected it will encroach into in Nebraska.

Jim attracted a great deal of media attention. Portrayed by the Norfolk Daily News as "a big, burly man" who "rails against Planned Parenthood with the zeal of an old-time, tent-show revival preacher," the reporter described his presentation to a capacity crowd at the Norfolk Knights of Columbus Hall, saying that Sedlak "disseminates facts and figures about the organization he's opposed for 25 years with a vengeance."

The article goes on to say, "He wants people to listen to what he has to say and then 'peacefully and prayerfully' stop Planned Parenthood from 'killing babies.'"

You can watch the video news coverage of his appearance, where Sedlak calls Planned Parenthood a "sex business preying primarily on our children."

Hats off to the newly formed Nebraskans Against Planned Parenthood for organizing the tour and involving media, and to Jim who has successfully traveled through Nebraska sowing seeds of dissent against the abortion giant, as he lays the foundation for the solid wall of resistance that will stop Planned Parenthood's expansion into Nebraska.

STOPP national director Rita Diller was in Nebraska last week as well, keynoting the Lincoln Right to Life "Celebration of Life" Banquet. She also spoke to a full house at Hope Evangelical Free Church, near Planned Parenthood's new facility there, and worked one-on-one with sidewalk counselors.

Diller delivered a message of hope to those in Lincoln who have been fighting Planned Parenthood for years, using the example of the closure of 19 Planned Parenthood facilities in the Texas Panhandle over a 12-year period as an example of how the abortion giant can be ousted by persistent prayer and building a solid wall of resistance to Planned Parenthood by meeting it at every turn.

Diller was also interviewed by secular talk show host Coby Mach and appeared on Catholic radio with Greg Schleppenbach, the state director of the Nebraska Catholic Bishops' Pastoral Plan for Pro-life Activities. She recorded radio spots with the Nebraska Family Council while there and also recorded internet ads produced by the Nebraska Family Council that will be available to all the groups in the state that are joining hands to fight Planned Parenthood.

Nebraska coach opposing Planned Parenthood

STOPP leaders are not the only ones in Nebraska abuzz with the bad news about Planned Parenthood.

Football is near the heart of Nebraskans, and Huskers' coach Ron Brown is helping to lead the fight against Planned Parenthood's expansion plans in Nebraska.

Ron Brown was born in New York City and raised in Massachusetts; he was a standout defensive back at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, in the later 1970s. He was an assistant coach for the Huskers from 1987-2003, returning to the Husker football staff for the 2008 season. Ron is a Mission Nebraska co-founder and co-director and serves as the team leader for FreedMen ministry. Ron and his family live in Lincoln.

When Ron found out about Planned Parenthood's expansion plans, he was eager to oppose the organization's plans. Ron did the following short interview, which is posted here.

In addition, Ron's group, FreedMen Nebraska, has identified the fight against Planned Parenthood expansion in a call for action on the front page of its website: www.freedmennebraska.org.

As you fight Planned Parenthood in your own communities, do not overlook the power of sports figures and allied organizations in spreading the word. Planned Parenthood is an organization that leads our children into lives of sexual sin and creates a situation where these children may lose their immortal souls. Every Christian needs to be an active part of this fight!

Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary: Lincoln, Nebraska

Pro-life advocates in Lincoln have literally brought Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary by placing a beautiful statue of Our Lady on the lawn of its Lincoln Right to Life house, next door to a Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

The pro-life advocates were able to purchase the house next door to the abortion mill because the owners were outraged that Planned Parenthood had moved in next door, and actually waited patiently for the two years that were needed for the right to life group to raise the funds to purchase the property.

The backyard of the house is next to the inner courtyard of the abortion facility, and beautiful Stations of the Cross adorn the backyard, while an elevated play structure provides a direct view into the courtyard and access to the Planned Parenthood clients.

The Marian statue in the front garden was installed as part of an Eagle Scout project and was funded by the Knights of Columbus.

Because Planned Parenthood cannot long survive in the face of such spiritual warfare, that Planned Parenthood facility is about to close and is moving to another location in Lincoln that is far removed from the statue of Our Lady and the Right to Life house.

Though Planned Parenthood can run, it cannot hide. STOPP director Rita Diller met with the sidewalk counselors currently based in the Life House to make plans for bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary at the new facility.

Our Lady never fails. Planned Parenthood is doomed. The Mother of God is leading the battle in Lincoln, and pro-lifers there are totally committed to stepping up the prayers and building a solid wall of resistance to Planned Parenthood.

Missouri Planned Parenthood affiliate drops controversial Planned Parenthood name

Effective September 30, Tri-Rivers Planned Parenthood (TRPP) disaffiliated from Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and changed its name to Tri-Rivers Family Planning, Inc. (TRFP). Abandoning the controversial Planned Parenthood name, it follows in the footsteps of two Texas Planned Parenthood affiliates-Amarillo and Corpus Christi.

The Missouri affiliate, which has facilities in Rolla and Lake Ozark, has been targeting the poor in those communities with its immoral, perverse sex indoctrination programs and abortifacient contraception since 1971.

While the affiliate claims that it is in excellent financial condition and is proud of its 40 plus year history with the abortion giant, it says "the Board and staff felt it was in the organization's best interest and in the best interest of the clients whom it serves to become an independent healthcare provider at this time."

The Planned Parenthood name has obviously become so controversial that it is an impediment to the affiliate's growth and survival.

Planned Parenthood can be likened to an evil tree that has its roots planted deep in the poisonous soil of secular humanism. It is watered by almost $1 million per day of taxpayer money. The sunshine that sustains it is community support. When the Planned Parenthood brand becomes so controversial that community support weakens, closures result. Likewise, when government funding is cut, the tree withers and dies and facilities close. Community support and funding work hand in hand to ensure Planned Parenthood's survival in a community, and when either begins to fail, you will see Planned Parenthood close facilities or shift into desperation mode, trying everything--even abandoning the Planned Parenthood name that it claims to be so proud of--in order survive.

Once the PP ties are severed, the organization becomes much weaker and is much more vulnerable to closure. In fact, in recent weeks, one of the two former Planned Parenthood affiliates in Amarillo that severed ties with the abortion giant in 2009 closed completely.

We look forward to seeing many more Planned Parenthood affiliates close or sever ties with PPFA as the Planned Parenthood name becomes more and more controversial.
