Planned Parenthood loves this: It’s not normal when adult gender matches the sex ‘assigned’ at birth

We’ve been so busy decrying the fact that Planned Parenthood is trying to normalize the sexually abnormal for decades that we almost missed the next “logical” step. Now, it is not normal to be—well, normal.

“A cisgender person is someone whose gender matches up with the sex they were assigned at birth. Not ‘normal,’ just common.” And then an example is given, in case you are so dense you still don’t get it: “A person was born, the doctor declared them female, and in adulthood they identify as a woman.” I mean, how “not normal” can it get? A person declared female because of her female genitalia identifies as female as an adult. Whoa! So that’s why those people who send me e-mails intending to insult call me a “cisgender, misogynist, white male.” Well, at least they got the cisgender part right.

A July 22 post on Planned Parenthood of Columbia Willamette Facebook page says, “We love this Q&A!” It links to a BuzzFeed blog post entitled “Everything you always wanted to know about transgender people but were afraid to ask.” The self-described transgender 101 is a litany of memes to help us understand “transgender issues without coming off like a jerk.”

And right there is where I discovered that “cisgender” is an adjective that describes someone who claims the same gender as the “sex” they were “assigned” at birth.

Ahh, the ever-liquid gender. First of all, we are “assigned” a “sex” at birth. But wait, didn’t our genetic makeup actually dictate our gender at the moment of our creation? Never mind. Planned Parenthood—the organization that proclaims daily it presents only medically accurate information—has never let science get in its way.

The cisgender meme does not stand alone in its absurdity. Other notable entries on the blog that Planned Parenthood loves teach us more absurd things, like this one: Transgender is “a term for people whose gender identity is different from the sex they were assigned at birth. Transgender people don’t want to be, and aren’t pretending to be, men or women. Transgender people are men or women (or both or neither—we’ll get to that) and transition in order to better reflect that internal sense of who they are.”

To clarify that really scientific, coherent statement (sarcasm blaring!), we find the “genderqueer” meme. Genderqueer is “An umbrella term for anyone who identifies as a gender besides man or woman. What?!” The blog continues, “There are genders besides boy or girl? Well, yeah. In a world where your hair, eye and skin color can be any combination of things, not to mention body height and size, plus all the different ways people construct their identities with clothes, tattoos, and hair styles, is it really that weird to think gender contains more than two options? Girl.”

Okay, that really clarifies it for me. It is not weird to be multiple genders, or some different gender than male or female, or no gender. Neither is it normal to claim the gender reflected by your genitalia. This makes so much sense—in some schizophrenic universe.

And just as gender is fluid, so also are names. Yes, that’s right. We learn that a birth name is someone’s given name at birth. “A transgender person might change their name to better match their gender, rather than use their given name.” Then comes the “Protip.” “Don’t ask a trans person what their ‘real’ name is. Whatever they told you is their real name.”

Got that? Your legal name has no bearing in the world of fluid gender. It can change day by day, minute by minute, as your interior feeling about who or what you are changes.

Just a ridiculous bunch of memes on an LGBT blog, you say? I might go along with that, except that earlier this year I sat through the Oregon Adolescent Sexuality Conference, led by a state of Oregon employee. Planned Parenthood was on the steering committee. The entire conference was absolutely focused on such preposterous fluid gender nonsense day after day. In one breakout session I even learned that these types of definitions are being written into Oregon law. And Planned Parenthood plays an ever-present role in ensuring that normal becomes abnormal, while abnormal is “perfectly normal.”

I still have my “useful terminology list” from Brad Victor’s workshop where he revealed that these definitions are being written into Oregon law. Victor is retired now, but at the time of the conference he was a business-card-carrying employee of the state of Oregon. His title? Sexuality education specialist with the Oregon Department of Education.

A few standouts from the terminology list:

Assigned sex – sex recorded at birth, usually on the basis of external genitalia.

Gender binary – the assumption that there are only two genders (male and female) rather than multiple genders or gender fluidity.

Sexual orientation – means an individual’s actual or perceived heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, or other romantic and/or sexual attraction.

Sexual intercourse –
(A) Vaginal sex (penis or finger inserted into vagina, or vagina to vagina)
(B) Oral sex (mouth to vagina or mouth to penis)
(C) Anal sex (penis or finger to anus)

These definitions are written into the Oregon Administrative Rule adopted by the Oregon State Board of Education January 25, 2013—the rule which Victor describes as having been adopted under the radar without discussion, after being grouped with other consent items. In his words: “[I]t was on the docket as a consent item. Which they’ll pile a bunch of stuff together. We put it out for public comment. There was no public comment at all. And so we went for the consent items, and they said, ‘Everybody agree on the consent items?’ And they raised their hands. And bingo, boom! We’ve got the most progressive law in the nation here. So we pushed the envelope again.”

Teachers from schools receiving WISE grants in Oregon were required to attend this session, by the way, and are required to teach these definitions. WISE is an acronym for Working to Institutionalize Sex Education. WISE gets money from the Grove Foundation—whose money emanates from the Intel fortune—to push this garbage on our kids.

Everyone who attended the conference—including yours truly—got a continuing education certificate from Portland State University Graduate School of Social Work. That must mean I am now credentialed in some way in the area of “Sexual Health and Social Justice.” Such deceptive words.

CEU Certificate

In a world where killing innocent babies is considered normal, should we be surprised to learn that the envelope is being pushed daily—to extreme lengths—so that our children will drown in the satanic mire that says normal is abnormal and abnormal is perfectly normal?

My suggestion? Read Jim Sedlak’s book Parent Power!! Then dash to your nearest public school and find out what is being taught to your children in the realm of sexuality education. Next, follow the step-by-step instructions in Jim’s book to get Planned Parenthood out of the school! This is a battle for the hearts, minds, and souls of our children, and anything but immediate action is tantamount to throwing our children to the dogs—effectively setting them up for lives of sexual confusion, discord, and sin. I have seen many of the Oregon children who have been so misled by Planned Parenthood, and it was a heart-breaking sight. These young people need our prayers and our immediate action to redeem the wrong that has been heaped on them by the abortion giant.

Hawaii Planned Parenthood awash in sex education funding

Parents in Hawaii, beware! Planned Parenthood is squarely behind the federally funded sex education in Hawaii schools. The Hawaii Youth Services Network and the University of Hawaii received almost two million dollars from the federal government’s PREP funding—which is part of Obamacare—to develop, replicate, and implement “comprehensive sex education” in Hawaii schools. Planned Parenthood of Hawaii is a partner with both entities in the grants.

Hawaii Youth Services Network has worked closely with Planned Parenthood in pushing Planned Parenthood’s perverse, morally bereft sex education. Planned Parenthood thanked HYSN for partnering with it in 2012 to produce a sex ed teacher training workshop for middle school and high school known as the Positive Images workshop.

The workshop was billed as essential for “middle and high school teachers, community health educators, youth-serving professionals, and staff involved with teen pregnancy, STI, and HIV prevention programs.” The “trainers” were none other than Planned Parenthood of Hawaii's Sonia Blackiston and Kathleen Stofocik. “Both trainers have led numerous sexual health workshops across Hawaii, including Sex Ed 101 for Educators, Contraception and STI 101, I’m Askable, Avoiding the Wide Eyes and Giggles, and HOPE (Helping Our Parents Educate),” according to the workshop promo.

The University of Hawaii is also a friend of Planned Parenthood and abortion. A February 2012 Life News story says that the university was then deciding “whether to provide funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business to start doing abortions at Kauai inside the Mahelona Memorial Hospital in Kapa’a.”

Clearly, Planned Parenthood is squarely behind the sex education grant money and likely had a great deal of input into writing the law requiring comprehensive sex education in schools that receive funding specifically earmarked for sex education. That law passed the legislature in 2009, supplanted the 1995 abstinence supporting law, and opened the doors for the current PREP grants.

You can find policies on sex education for Hawaii and other states here: http://answer.rutgers.edu/page/state_policy.

Note that the law does not require Planned Parenthood style sex education in Hawaii public schools. Period. It requires that any school that receives state funding specifically for sex education provide medically accurate, factual, and comprehensive information that is age appropriate and includes education on abstinence and contraception.

This law supplants the 1995 abstinence law that was previously in effect. The new law follows Planned Parenthood’s agenda so closely that it looks as though it was penned by Planned Parenthood.

Have no doubt: Planned Parenthood will claim that it is the law that children in Hawaii must be subjected to its comprehensive sexuality education, and will use that claim to try to blackmail schools and parents into accepting its perverse sex education. This applies in other states as well. Planned Parenthood is misrepresenting the law when it makes such claims.

It is time for parents in Hawaii and all across the United States to do their homework. Find out what is being taught to your children in the realm of sexuality education and who is teaching it. Contact us by e-mail and we will be glad to assist you in your fight.

Additionally, Dr. Miriam Grossman and Dr. Judith Reisman have done a fabulous job laying out the case against comprehensive sex education on their websites. Please thoroughly explore their websites to help arm yourselves for this battle:

Armed for Battle in the Brazos Valley of Texas

American Life League’s Jim Sedlak continues to bring a stellar lineup of speakers to encourage and equip pro-life advocates across the nation via his Radio Maria talk show, “Armed for Battle.”

You won’t want to miss Jim’s September 6 live broadcast from the offices of the Brazos Valley Coalition for Life as preparations gear up for the September 7 celebration of the closing of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Bryan, Texas. You will hear Jim, along with his guests, who were active participants in closing the Planned Parenthood abortion facility that was the birthplace of 40 Days for Life—the facility once managed by Abby Johnson. You can listen to the broadcast live at noon Eastern time on Radio Maria, or online at http://radiomaria.us/armedforbattle/.

On August 23, Jim’s guest was Richard Sempala, CEO of the Africa Life Youth Foundation, who discussed his work to bring the culture of life to Uganda and the problems caused by the funding of anti-life activities by the United States’ USAID and by Marie Stopes International.

Jim’s guest on August 30 was Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League. Scheidler discussed the work of his organization and the planned September 14, 2013, National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Babies, which his group is cosponsoring with Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and Priests for Life.

You can listen to all of the archived shows at http://radiomaria.us/armedforbattle/.

Iowa Board of Medicine rule will stop webcam abortions

In an eight to two vote, the Iowa Board of Medicine approved a rule on August 8 that will eliminate remote “webcam” abortions in the state. The rule will go into effect October 2.

The webcam abortion was a procedure created and instituted in Iowa by Planned Parenthood. Women begin the abortion process in remote facilities with no licensed physician present. The physician speaks briefly with the woman from a remote location via the Internet, asking her if she is ready. When she says yes, he remotely opens a drawer containing the chemicals that will abort the baby. The woman is then left on her own to suffer through the death of her baby and the subsequent labor and delivery—a process which takes days.

At the hearing, there was testimony by a Planned Parenthood nurse that CMAs sometimes perform the physical exam on women prior to the webcam abortions. When Dr. Robert Shaw, the board chairman of Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, was examined extensively about whether CMAs were qualified to do exams, and whether he allowed that in his own practice, Shaw repeatedly skirted and refused to answer the question, instead alluding to protocols for webcam abortions.

Attorneys for Alliance Defending Freedom stated in a letter that the new rule “would require physicians to physically examine the woman and determine the age and intrauterine location of the pregnancy; be present when the abortion-inducing drug is provided to the woman; and schedule a precautionary follow-up appointment with the women twelve to eighteen days after the abortion.”

With the new rule in effect, the number of Planned Parenthood facilities committing abortions in the state promises to drop dramatically, since it is obviously not profitable for abortionists to go to remote locations to do exams and hand out abortion pills.

Planned Parenthood’s website currently lists 14 locations in Iowa that commit abortions, and six that make abortion referrals. According to STOPP’s 2011 survey of Planned Parenthood facilities, Iowa ranked 12th among all states in the nation for the most Planned Parenthood facilities, even though it ranks 34th in the nation for population density. Iowa’s 2012 population, as estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau, is less than one percent of the nation’s population. Yet, Iowa is home to 16 Planned Parenthood facilities that currently commit surgical or abortion pill abortions!

Iowa sits in the U.S. region referred to as “The Heartland of America,” and Planned Parenthood there has the gall to call itself Planned Parenthood of the Heartland. Heartland is defined as “the part of a region considered essential to the viability and survival of the whole.” Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and its predecessor affiliates have been working since 2008 to stop the heartbeat of the Heartland by webcam abortions—and has received awards from Planned Parenthood Federation of America for doing so.

The State Board of Medicine rule stands to save the lives of many rural Iowa children by eliminating Planned Parenthood’s heartless slaughter of the innocents in remote locations via webcam conferencing. We celebrate the elimination of webcam abortions in Iowa while we continue to work to shut down all Planned Parenthood facilities in the state and across the nation.

Planned Parenthood facilities close at breakneck speed

Planned Parenthood facilities are closing at breakneck speed, as pro-life forces, bolstered by American Life League’s Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary campaign, place Mary front and center of the battle against the abortion giant. Thirteen Planned Parenthood facilities closed in the 43-day period between July 19 and September 1, 2013, of which we are aware. There may be more. Clearly, the victories that unfold day by day across our nation, as more Planned Parenthood facilities close, are a fruit of that trust in Our Lady.

In Texas, where STOPP has spent more time working directly with local pro-life groups than in any other state, the Planned Parenthood closures have been particularly rapid-fire.

Pro-life forces in Midland, Texas, welcomed the announcement of the closure of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility there August 30. Advocates in the Midland/Odessa area have fought valiantly for the closure, bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary every step of the way. Planned Parenthood of West Texas cited political “attacks from state lawmakers,” in announcing the closure. The West Texas affiliate also closed its San Angelo office, effective August 30. The geographical area of the Diocese of San Angelo is now Planned Parenthood-free!

San Angelo Bishop Michael Pfeifer acknowledged Our Lady’s role in the closures, setting up a rosary vigil for August 30 outside the Midland facility: “On the day of the closing of Planned Parenthood in Midland, Friday, August 30, 2013,” Bishop Pfeifer said in an online statement, “I ask that our priests and all of our people gather in front of Planned Parenthood at 12 Noon, with the special Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Midland, to offer a Rosary of Thanksgiving to Christ and our Blessed Mother for bringing an end to abortions in the city of Midland.”

Bishop Pfeifer has been particularly visible in the fight against Planned Parenthood in Midland, Odessa, and San Angelo, leading by example, bringing the Church and Our Lady to the gates of Planned Parenthood. He faithfully celebrated Mass and led prayer vigils and Eucharistic adoration outside the Planned Parenthood facilities within the geographical area of his diocese. STOPP has been privileged to collaborate through the years with those working and praying to eliminate Planned Parenthood from the area.

Thanks to Pro-Life Waco’s John Pisciotta, STOPP has also discovered that Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas in August closed centers in Burleson and Corsicana, Texas, apparently with no public announcement and no fanfare. Planned Parenthood’s Bryan, Texas, facility—the home of the now international 40 Days for Life movement—closed effective August 1, as did centers in Lufkin and Huntsville. STOPP’s Jim Sedlak will be a featured speaker at the September 7 celebration of the Bryan closure.

Also included on the closure list is Planned Parenthood’s facility in Essex County, New York, where the abortion giant closed its Ticonderoga facility on August 27, 2013.

In addition, Planned Parenthood closed its Johnson Creek facility in Wisconsin effective July 19, 2013. Johnson Creek was the last of four Wisconsin facilities scheduled to be closed between April and July of 2013. Our American Life League Associate group Pro-Life Wisconsin played an important role in this victory.

In Colorado, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains announced the closure of its Eastside center in Colorado Springs and the LaJunta location effective September 1. Here again we see that the bishop of the diocese, Michael Sheridan, is extremely outspoken and actively fighting against Planned Parenthood. Fr. Bill Carmody, respect life director for the Diocese of Colorado Springs, has also been highly visible in the fight against Planned Parenthood. Countless rosaries have been prayed, and continue to be prayed, for an end to Planned Parenthood, as the faithful bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary.

The announcement of the Colorado closures referred to the “strategic decision” and specifically mentioned the abortion giant’s fight against two personhood initiatives in the state. The press release also referenced a Las Vegas, Nevada, facility that will close as well.

And in Manville, New Jersey, Planned Parenthood closed its doors permanently on August 16, according to a notice found on the office window. Officials at Planned Parenthood of Central and Greater Northern New Jersey declined to comment on the closing, according to a news story at NJ.com. New Jersey has been stripping millions of dollars of Planned Parenthood funding consistently since 2010.

All of this goes to show that STOPP’s plan to close Planned Parenthood is spot-on. Among our most salient points: 1) Planned Parenthood will not thrive in an area where there is an intense, unrelenting campaign to bring Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary, 2) Planned Parenthood cannot survive without government funding, and 3) shining a light on the personhood of the preborn is among Planned Parenthood’s worst nightmares. On-site prayer works! Defunding works! Personhood is key! The three work hand in hand to bring an end to Planned Parenthood. Congratulations to all who put Mary in the lead in this battle against good and evil, against life and death!

It is through the generosity of our donors that we are able to carry on our lifesaving work. Your donation today will enable STOPP speakers to expand our travel and our alliances with regional and state pro-life groups. Please help us turn up the heat on Planned Parenthood as we collaborate with pro-life leaders across the nation in putting an end to the abortion giant.
