Planned Parenthood Doubles Down on Medication Abortion Facilities

At the end of each year, American Life League’s STOPP International program does a survey of all the Planned Parenthood facilities in the United States. The purpose of the survey is to determine how many centers Planned Parenthood operates and how many of these centers commit either surgical or medication (abortion pill) abortions.

This year’s survey has just been completed and a detailed report will be issued in January 2016. But the findings are so significant that we want to bring the summary data to you immediately. In the calendar year 2015:

Total Planned Parenthood centers went DOWN from 668 to 645.

Total Planned Parenthood centers that commit abortions went UP from 337 to 353

o Planned Parenthood centers that commit surgical abortions went DOWN from 173 to 166.

o Planned Parenthood centers that commit medication abortions (but not surgical abortions) went UP from 164 to 187.

The growth of medication-only abortion centers in the United States has been driven almost exclusively by Planned Parenthood. It currently operates 90 percent of all such centers in the country. This year’s growth of 23 medication-only abortion centers is the largest one-year increase since 2010. More significantly, in 2015, for the first time in the organization’s history, the number of medication-only abortion centers is larger than its number of surgical abortion centers.

The numbers show that Planned Parenthood still operates the largest abortion chain in the nation. It is clear that Planned Parenthood sees the implementation of facilities that only commit abortions using the abortion pill (medication abortions) as its wave of the future. These facilities allow Planned Parenthood to continue to end the lives of human beings in the womb through abortion—while sparing its staff from having to deal with the dead babies.

In a medication abortion, the mother takes a pill to kill the baby at a PP facility and is then sent home to take a second pill a couple of days later to expel the dead baby from her body. Thus, the woman is left to deal with any problems or trauma on her own. She is normally instructed to deal with major problems by going to an emergency room—not back to Planned Parenthood. It’s been reported that Planned Parenthood instructs the women to tell the emergency room staff that she is having a miscarriage.

Critics of Planned Parenthood have maintained for years that the organization is more concerned with making a profit than women’s health. The significant growth of these abortion pill facilities is yet another demonstration of the truth of those concerns. Get the women in the door, sell them very expensive pills to kill their babies, and send them on their way to deal with any consequences on their own. Not the description of any real healthcare we’ve ever seen.

Planned Parenthood Never Does Anything Wrong

It’s beginning to sound like a broken record. Elected officials, investigative committees, and journalists find evidence of Planned Parenthood breaking the law. When presented with the evidence, Planned Parenthood simply repeats loudly that it didn’t do anything wrong.

The latest example of this came just this week when investigators in Ohio found that three PP abortion facilities were using a contractor to dump bodies of aborted babies in landfills. Ohio officials said this was against state regulations.

According to an Associated Press news story, “Planned Parenthood called the report ‘inflammatory.’ The group said its three facilities that provide abortions follow Ohio law and use the same practices as hospitals and other providers, which generally contract with companies to dispose of medical waste.”

Did you get that? Planned Parenthood in Ohio considers the bodies of aborted babies to be “medical waste.” Remember earlier this year when PP was caught selling baby body parts and it defended its actions by saying it was providing human tissue from aborted babies to researchers for experiments? No mention of “human waste” in that discussion. It seems PP makes up its rhetoric to fit whatever defense it thinks will work best when each incidence of its wrong-doing is uncovered.

In other cases where Planned Parenthood is caught doing something wrong, it just tries to confuse the issue. A few months ago, the state of Florida cited three Planned Parenthood abortion facilities for doing second trimester abortions when they were only licensed to do first trimester abortions. The state defines first trimester as being 14 weeks from the date of the woman’s last menstrual period. Since fertilization usually takes place about two weeks from LMP, this means a fetal age of 12 weeks or less. The state accused PP of doing abortions of babies of 13–14 weeks fetal age. PP, of course, claimed it had done nothing wrong and that there was just confusion over the definition of “first trimester.”

The good news is that many states and attorneys general are beginning to understand Planned Parenthood better and are pursuing legal action in spite of PP’s protestations of innocence. As this trend spreads across the country, we can expect to see the day when PP is actually held accountable for its transgressions. We pray that day will come soon.

Planned Parenthood in Washington, DC

If you are Planned Parenthood, appearances are very important to you. You want to be able to claim that you are in every state in the union and in Washington, DC. This claim is so important that you even opened an educational office in Fargo, North Dakota, so you would have a presence in that state.

But, what about Washington, DC? For years you’ve had two centers in DC. One center was on 16th Street and was a major surgical abortion facility. The second was a smaller center on Minnesota Avenue that did not commit any abortions. In 2015, you closed both of those facilities as you prepared for a new administrative building and abortion facility you are building next to two schools on 4th Street NE. However, that facility will not be open until sometime in 2016. But, it is simply not politically correct for you to not have a medical facility in the nation’s capital.

So, what do you do?

If you are Planned Parenthood, you find a nonprofit organization that has some medical offices and you arrange to use its facility part time. That nonprofit is Bread for the City, located at 1525 7th Street NW. According to its website, “The mission of Bread for the City is to provide vulnerable residents of Washington, DC with comprehensive services, including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.”

Well, this seemingly worthwhile organization has agreed to let Planned Parenthood use its medical facilities twice a month. According to PP’s website, it is holding office hours at the Bread for the City offices from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on two Saturdays a month. This, of course, allows PP to maintain it still has a “presence” in the city.

It might be a good idea for readers of the Wednesday STOPP Report to contact George A. Jones, chief executive officer of Bread for the City, at [email protected] or 202.386.7602 and let him know that having Planned Parenthood use his facilities is not good for his organization’s image. PLEASE do not be belligerent in your contact. Just a calm, respectful request that he cancel his arrangement with PP is all that is needed.

Poll Results Encouraging

Recently, The Polling Company released the results of a poll it conducted to try to understand the impact on the public of the undercover videos of Planned Parenthood released by the Center for Medical Progress.

Among its findings were:

31 percent of pro-abortion Americans, after learning how much money PP receives from government each year, how much it spends on partisan politics, and how its senior officials were bartering baby body parts and fetal tissue, said this made them sour on PP.

56 percent of those polled think Congress should freeze, reduce, or eliminate Planned Parenthood taxpayer funding.

68 percent of those polled think the federal and state governments should continue investigating Planned Parenthood.

As we end this very active year fighting Planned Parenthood, just know that Planned Parenthood is worried. Poll results such as this, plus the votes in Congress to defund the organization, and the growing disdain even pro-abortion Americans are showing for the organization have shaken it at its roots.

Let’s all keep up the pressure and make sure every politician running for every office knows one things in 2016: If you don’t oppose Planned Parenthood, you will not be elected.

Merry Christmas

This is our final issue of the Wednesday STOPP Report for 2015. As you prepare to celebrate the coming holy days, please remember the reason for the season.

Jesus has spent the last nine months in the womb of His mother. On Christmas Day He will be born and the world will be blessed.

Every family has its Christmas traditions. My wife and I travel each Christmas season to our native New York and take in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. This is always an exciting show featuring holiday songs and energetic dance numbers. But the highlight of the show is always the Living Nativity scene. The show ends with a depiction of the nativity of Jesus and the narrator concludes with a recitation of "One Solitary Life." We present the words for you here as our Christmas gift to all who proclaim the truth of Jesus before a world that does not want to hear it.

"One Solitary Life

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was 30, and then for three years He was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family. He never owned a house. He never went to college. He never visited a big city.

He never traveled more than 200 miles from the place He was born. He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness. He had no credentials but Himself.

He was only 33 when the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to His enemies, and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves.

While He was dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing, the only property He had on earth. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race, the leader of mankind’s progress.

All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man on earth as much as that One Solitary Life.
