Planned Parenthood Is Worried

By Jim Sedlak

In all probability, Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s president, Cecile Richards, hasn’t had a really good night’s sleep since the November elections.

Richards' world collapsed as Donald Trump was elected the new president instead of Hillary Clinton. Since then, Cecile has been traveling across the nation giving speeches and trying to bolster the morale of supporters and employees of Planned Parenthood.

This week is especially trying for the Planned Parenthood boss. First, there is the reconciliation bill making its way through the House of Representatives. You see, Cecile and her friends Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are used to the slow pace of Washington politics. Once a bill is introduced, it takes months to get through committees. Then there’s a vote and maybe six months later the bill either gets killed or becomes law. But things are not “business as usual” in DC these days. We have a president who likes to see things get done. When he says he will do things immediately, he actually means immediately. Just look at all he has done in his first 60 days in office.

Well, Cecile, who used to be deputy chief of staff to Nancy Pelosi, is not used to this kind of fast pace. Here are some excerpts from an e-mail she sent to Planned Parenthood supporters this week:

Health care for millions—including the future of health care access at Planned Parenthood health centers—is at stake when the House votes on Paul Ryan's ACA repeal bill. This is a big moment to make our voices heard, and we need to make it count.

It's been just two weeks since House Republicans introduced their disastrous health care legislation, and during that time, they've done everything they can to force this through as quickly—and with as little debate—as possible.

But even secret backroom meetings, 27-hour markup marathons, and shady procedural tricks can't hide the truth about the health care havoc this bill would wreak on Americans. This bill could block millions of patients from accessing care at Planned Parenthood health centers. . . .  A vote for this bill is cruel and wrong.

Remember that this bill, in addition to repealing some of the mandates and other aspects of Obamacare, will take federal money away from Planned Parenthood for, at least, the next year. It is no wonder that Cecile is upset.

This reconciliation bill is not the only reason Cecile is upset this week. There is the matter of the next Supreme Court justice. Trump nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch is appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week to answer questions. At the end, the committee will vote on whether or not to present Gorsuch to the full Senate for a confirmation vote.

Gorsuch is not the kind of justice Planned Parenthood likes. He actually believes in the United States Constitution and further believes judges should interpret existing law, not make new laws. In addition, in a case where the state of Utah wanted to take funding away from Planned Parenthood, Gorsuch voted in favor of Utah and against Planned Parenthood. When Gorsuch was nominated in January, Cecile made a statement on the nomination. Here are excerpts from this statement:

We have a message for members of the Senate on Judge Gorsuch: opposing Roe v. Wade is a disqualifier. . . . There has never been a more important Supreme Court nomination. It has become crystal clear that the courts are going to be the last—and sometimes only—line of defense against dangerous and unconstitutional attacks on basic rights. . . . President Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, has an alarming history of interfering with reproductive rights and health. Planned Parenthood calls on every United States Senator to uphold a fundamental standard: if you oppose Roe v. Wade and women’s access to basic health care, you are not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court of the United States.

Thus, you can expect that Planned Parenthood will be at the forefront of the effort to block Gorsuch’s confirmation. But it is clear that the Trump administration is dedicated to getting Gorsuch confirmed.

Planned Parenthood has a right to be worried. Its entire world seems to be crumbling. But this is not the time for those opposed to Planned Parenthood to be complacent. This is the time to increase our efforts against the nation’s largest abortion chain.

Future generations will celebrate our efforts to successfully remove Planned Parenthood from our nation.

California Pilgrimage Update

As we were going to press with this issue of the Wednesday STOPP Report, we received a call from Teresa Marsano in California. She had sensational news!

The last stop on the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe Pilgrimage was supposed to be in Sacramento on Monday, May 1. That has now been changed to Sunday, April 30. The reason for the change:

Bishop Jaime Soto of Sacramento invited the image to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento. There will be a Mass at 5:00 p.m. on April 30, followed by a Eucharistic procession to include the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the state capitol building! Praise God!

Teresa told us that one of the people on the pilgrimage suggested that the group try to get the image into the cathedral in Sacramento. He suggested making phone calls and writing letters. The organizers responded that if the Blessed Mother wanted the image in the cathedral, she would arrange it. The very next day, Bishop Soto’s office called and asked for the image to come!

The event at the Cathedral is open to the public and everyone is invited.

*** End of breaking news *** original article below ***

Last issue we told you about the efforts of Teresa Marsano and Dora Lee Raris to bring the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to every abortion clinic in California. We are happy to report that the effort is still on schedule and going strong.

A recent article in the California Catholic Daily reports the following:

At some vigil stops, the two women are alone, or almost alone, as they pray for the abortion center’s closure and the conversion of the staff. At other stops, dozens or even hundreds come to meet the image and join in prayer. In Oxnard, at a newly opened FPA Women’s Health facility, a local deacon prayed over the building, asking that the demons be cast out and then applied holy water and blessed salt to the entrances to the building.

In Santa Cruz, Marsano visited the Planned Parenthood site the day before bringing the image and saw paramedics transporting a patient on a gurney to a waiting ambulance.

In El Centro, hundreds came to Mass in front of the Planned Parenthood after an overnight prayer vigil at the local church.

Today, March 22, the image is outside Her Medical Clinic in Pacoima (12 PM – 1 PM). Tomorrow she visits three clinics in Van Nuys: Los Angeles Medical Center (9 AM – 10 AM); My Choice Medical Center (12 PM – 1 PM); and Van Nuys Planned Parenthood (3 PM – 4 PM). You can find the complete schedule at

The “California Pilgrimage to Close Abortion Centers” began in Salinas on March 2 and will finish in Sacramento on April 30. The faithful are invited to meet the image at each of its stops and join in a prayerful vigil.

Waco Pro-Lifers Are on Fire for God

Pro-lifers in Waco, Texas (the birthplace of Cecile Richards—PPFA president), have been fighting Planned Parenthood for many years.

In 2013, the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Waco closed, but PP continued to operate a family planning clinic. Waco pro-lifers continued to protest PP’s presence and established a very effective “Overpass Protest” on busy I-35.

Late last year, Pro-Life Waco uncovered the fact that a new license to do abortions had been issued to the Waco office of Planned Parenthood. The license permits PP to do abortions in the same building as the family planning clinic. However, John Pisciotta, head of PLW, has credible information that PP is actually building a new 9,000 square foot building in a local medical park. John has been raising questions about Planned Parenthood’s intentions.

In a newspaper article earlier this year, Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas (the affiliate that operates the Waco office) confirmed that it does intend to start doing abortions in Waco in 2017. However it would “neither confirm nor deny” that the new building in the medical park was for Planned Parenthood’s use.

It was in this atmosphere that Jim Sedlak traveled to Waco on the second Sunday of March to speak at the monthly meeting of Pro-Life Waco. Jim reports that he found “a group motivated and on fire to stop abortions from coming again to Waco.” The group has a new NEVER AGAIN IN WACO campaign and recently ran a full-page ad in the Waco newspaper with the names of over 50 pastors and religious who oppose the Planned Parenthood killing center.

At the meeting, Jim told of the background of Planned Parenthood and the fact that Planned Parenthood leaders receive awards for spreading the religion of Humanism. That religion basically says there may or may not be a God, but it makes no difference. God has no effect here on earth. There is no heaven and no hell. This is it. There are no Ten Commandments—they were merely ten suggestions. Man decides what’s right and wrong, and that changes depending on the situation.

The audience understood the message and reacted immediately. Many rose at the end of the meeting and shouted “Planned Parenthood, Get Out of Waco,” and “Never Again in Waco.”

In his normal fashion, John Pisciotta was more than ready for this struggle. He laid out a plan of action and had participants sign up to get involved and to get their friends involved. He also gave the message that it was not enough to just stop the abortion facility. What is needed is for Planned Parenthood to get out of town for good.

The event came to a rousing conclusion, and it was discovered that at least two of the attendees were from Planned Parenthood. One person reported that, as the two women were walking out of the building, one turned to the other and said in a worried tone, “They can’t really shut us down, can they?”

Yes, Planned Parenthood. You have closed over 300 clinics since your peak and have been forced to leave many communities due to a lack of support. You can, and will, decide in the near future that Waco is one of those cities where your programs and services are no longer wanted or needed.

These Doors Are Closing!

We apologize for continually referring to Cecile Richards’ claim that, at Planned Parenthood headquarters, the mantra is “These doors stay open.”

Once again we have the pleasure of witnessing more clinic closures. In just the last two weeks Planned Parenthood has closed one clinic and announced that two more will close by the end of the month.

Planned Parenthood in Silver Spring, MD, closed.

The Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Silver Spring, Maryland, permanently closed on March 17. The closure came after Lauren Handy and other pro-lifers convinced the landlord not to renew Planned Parenthood’s lease—even though PP had operated out of those offices for 20 years. With all the revelations about Planned Parenthood’s business practices and its callous attitude toward babies, many people—including landlords—just don’t want them around.

Planned Parenthood in Easton and Bristol, PA, closing.

In addition to the Maryland closing, Planned Parenthood Keystone announced it will close its Easton Medical Center on March 30 as well as its center in Bristol. Lehigh Valley Live reported on its website that Melissa Reed, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Keystone, said in a statement:

After careful consideration, Planned Parenthood Keystone has made the difficult strategic decision to consolidate health services by closing two centers located in Easton and Bristol to reduce the costs of duplication associated with running two sites in close proximity to others. This decision was not made lightly. It resulted from careful analysis of where our patients live and seek medical care as well as an assessment of how best to ensure the longevity and strength of existing health centers, in order to offer the highest level of patient care for years to come.

In other words, Planned Parenthood is seeing a loss of customers and is closing locations to try to save money. Praise God!
