Racist Planned Parenthood livid about SCOTUS nominee

Since our last Wednesday STOPP Report, President Trump has nominated Amy Coney Barrett to be the next associate justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. Planned Parenthood is furious. Here is what Planned Parenthood says about the nomination:

Nominating Amy Coney Barrett is a particular insult to the legacy of Justice Ginsburg. Barrett's history of hostility toward reproductive health and rights, expanded health care access, and more demonstrate that she will put Justice Ginsburg's long record of ensuring that everyone receives equal justice under the law at risk.

What is it about Amy that has Planned Parenthood so upset? Well, Amy Coney Barrett is a woman described by her peers as a brilliant jurist. She graduated summa cum laude from Notre Dame Law School and joined the faculty in 2002, earning praise from colleagues as an astute scholar and jurist. She clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia at the Supreme Court. She is currently a judge on the Circuit Court. Barrett is described by members of the legal community as an “originalist.” The dictionary defines originalist as the legal philosophy that the words in documents, and especially the US Constitution, should be interpreted as they were understood at the time they were written.

Amy Coney Barrett is also a mom. Judge Barrett and her husband have seven children, all under 20 years of age, including two adopted from Haiti and a young son with Down syndrome. Judge Barrett is known for volunteering at her children’s grade school. If she is confirmed, the point has been made that she would be the first SCOTUS justice with children in elementary school.

In reading all of Planned Parenthood’s comments and those of other pro-abortion groups, what seems to scare them the most is that she is a woman who practices her Catholic faith. In fact, during her 2017 confirmation hearings for appointment to the Circuit Court, she was grilled about her religious views by Senate Judiciary Committee members Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Dick Durbin (D-IL). During that confirmation hearing, Feinstein opined, “When you read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you. And that’s of concern when you come to big issues that large numbers of people have fought for years in this country.”

Of course, the United States Constitution specifically prohibits any “religious test” for people serving in public office. But that doesn’t seem to stop these attempts at disqualifying her—at least in some peoples’ mind.

Currently, Barrett’s confirmation hearings will begin on October 12 (either in person or virtually) before the Senate Judiciary Committee and that committee should vote by October 22. The nomination will then go to the full Senate and the final confirmation vote is scheduled to occur on October 29—five days before Election Day.

Some of the impetus for getting the nomination confirmed before the election is because there is some fear that the results of the election may be contested. If that happens, it will be up to the Supreme Court to settle the situation. Since there are currently only eight justices on the Court, the addition of Barrett would bring the total to nine and take away the likelihood of a tie vote.

Let us pray that God’s hand will be over this nomination and the upcoming election.

Planned Parenthood spending millions hyping Kamala Harris

For pro-lifers across the country, Kamala Harris is the California attorney general who took aim at David Daleiden after his undercover videos threatened to shut down racist Planned Parenthood. His documentation of the illegal selling of aborted baby body parts was so solid that, when the videos were released, Planned Parenthood went running to Harris. As the result of a meeting between the two, Harris steadfastly refused to prosecute Planned Parenthood. Instead, she targeted Daleiden, ordered a raid by law enforcement on his apartment, and brought charges against him and others involved with the Center for Medical Progress. The draconian charges were the first ever brought in California against an undercover journalist for recording on film evidence of illegal activity.

Harris is currently running for vice-president of the United States and, whatever her qualifications might be for that job, racist Planned Parenthood and its friends are spending millions in support of her candidacy. Just this week (on October 5, 2020), CBS NEWS ran a story on how Planned Parenthood and its friends are set to run $10 million in digital ads to hype her candidacy. CBS reports that the ads will run on digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pandora, Roku, Plutotv, Viacom and Outbrain, among other placements.

In addition to Planned Parenthood Votes, other groups joining the effort include PACRONYM, which has been running a $75 million anti-Trump effort since 2019, Black PAC, and EMILY's List WOMEN VOTE!

Jenny Lawson, the executive director of racist Planned Parenthood Votes, was quoted in the story saying, "Kamala Harris has spent her career advocating for women and families, always calling out the disparities women of color and women with low incomes face in health care. Planned Parenthood Votes is excited to join with our partners in highlighting Sen. Harris to voters."

For more information on Harris and her protection of Planned Parenthood in California, we invite you to read our story about her published in the August 19, 2020, issue of the Wednesday STOPP Report.
